One of the most profound experiences to witness on the Silver Bank is a courtship interaction nicknamed “dancing.” As one of the final stages of courtship before mating, the whales provide an amazing performance as they twist, twirl, roll, circle and dive around each other, and sometimes us.
Interacting with dancing whales is the only time your guides might execute a twist or move themselves. Whales in dancing mode are certainly attracted to each other. And that can extend to our boats, and even us. So, getting their attention with a spin or shallow dive will sometimes engage them.
For you, our fortunate guests who may be in the water watching firsthand, it is a peak Silver Bank experience. The whales may directly interact with swimmers for extended periods of time at very close range.
