Who doesn’t love baby animals? And who doesn’t love humpback whales? Everyone loves swimming with baby humpback whales!
I found another video gem while browsing through our archives. You never know what you are going to see any time you are in the water swimming with humpback whales on the Silver Bank. This short clip is just one example. Every day is different, every interaction full of unknown potential. Humpback whale calves are intelligent, curious and playful, just a few weeks or months old, getting a feel for what their bodies can do and learning about their home and the creatures they share it with. Including humans! It is rewarding to think that this, possibly the first meeting with the human species, is a positive one.
In this video there is a resting mother and calf on the way up for a breath but when they rise to surface the little girl decides to put a different twist on the usual routine. Mom is pretty cool, too. The whole sequence took a few minutes but when you are seeing it in person it feels like it is over in seconds. Time flies when you are having fun.
What a show!
